you are your home
We live in a chaotic world. It is vital for our well being we have beauty and harmony around us to liberate our sensibilities and keep us centered. Feng Shui is about the energy in your space; create balance in your outer world and the inner will follow. What you perceive, you achieve, so it serves us to be proactive in this process.
No dramatic changes are required and the smallest shifts yield results. Feng Shui brings its principles to existing situation to make changes which enhance life by creating harmonious surroundings. The subconscious accepts every image as reality, which makes the individual's visual image system so very important.
The best and most immediate thing you can do to instantly change the energy is de-clutter then de-clutter some more. Chaos creates poverty, order creates abundance. Lots of stuff around creates restless energy, making it difficult to concentrate, to relax, to be at ease. All sorts of meaningful things are unearthed in this process.
Much can be learned from our surroundings but it usually takes a fresh eye to see and interpret the clues. So much of the chaos we feel is at the collective and subconscious level. When we can raise our levels of awareness through change, we can achieve harmony at the personal level. This has myriad benefits for health, abundance and happiness
To advise with Feng Shui and colour palette for a tall Victorian terraced house. Client moving in with her two sons for six or seven months. East/west orientation limited the natural light but has its advantages elsewhere. The house was empty, white with grey carpet with the occasional black wall accent. The rooms beautifully proportioned and gracious. Original period detail and fireplaces.

Think about the client, what she does, what her life is like, where she’s too busy, what she likes, how find balance. How can she best live there, how can we do a lot for a little money - mostly the cost of paint which leaves her free to spend a little more on some eye-popping items she can take back to her newly renovated home. Plus she leaves this one with a beautiful colour palette for future tenants.
The House
Tall and gracious, beautiful hall, bay window to front garden and street best light in the morning, lovely room next to that with old fireplace and tall window, light best late afternoon. Then long narrow kitchen with brick wall, view to yard and side of neighbours. Three bedrooms upstairs.
East facing living room with a bay window and fireplace. Recommended a warm dusty pale pink or the rose to make it as warm and light as possible. It sets the tone of the colour palette. Needs dramatic lighting, to be well hung with art, and sheer drapes in addition to her curtains to block the street view.
Recommending the pale chalky pink (F&B Middleton Pink) to bring warmth and light. It’s a lovely foil for the dusty brick, her dark kitchen units and a black accent wall next to the fridge which will just be repainted with blackboard paint for lists. Need a gorgeous blind to enhance view from sink.
Charming space. I thought she could use a dedicated place to do her considerable admin and have a proper space of her own. Keep the bedroom free to sleep. warm terracotta walls, velvet sofa, textures, lovely desk, lots of paintings, bookcase a wee fire. Disguise the office, double down on the room of your own.
A gorgeous dramatic centre light shade, a couple of beautiful lamps/shades. Candles for the mantlepiece, books, flowers, colour popping soft furnishings
Some gorgeous statement task lamps. It’s not a beautiful room but flowers, gorgeous lamps and blind, some striking wall planters to look out to. It’s really important what you look at when at the sink.
Lampshades (always), a lovely desk, bookcase, sheer voile drape, big parlour palm or fern, nice ceramics. Gorgeous sofa,
Over the living room room so same orientation. Recommended Middleton pink for it’s warmth and lovlieness. Suggest having minimal but excellent pieces like this gorgeous wardrobe. beautiful lighting and to keep as much space as possible.
Wanted to give a clear demarcation from the pink for the boys. Safe, delightful spaces, storage and study space. It’s a nice opportunity to aim for a more grown up bedroom for both boys.
Claim as much light and space as you can. Make a statement, even or especially if it is just for you. Beautiful surroundings have a very positive effect on us. IIt’s t’s worth the effort to sort the wheat out from the chaff. Use your most beautiful and precious things.
A gorgeous wardrobe. Lush bedding, sheer drapes for privacy. beautiful wallpaper for behind the bed, armchair
Good storage, nice task Lamps. A lovely console table for the hall, more lovely lighting.
Art, lighting, luxury fabric, the gorgeous and unusual, sheer white voile for windows, flowers, lampshade and task lamps.
Worth spending money on. Lit from within, even one beautiful lamp will change a room. Look for the unusual
Layering the luxury is a wonderful look. Rich textiles, even small like a lampshade gives a brilliant overall effect.
Beautiful, storage is a win win win. A de-cluttered house looks wealthy. Plus you gain a lovely and unusual piece of furniture.
